Time management skills and techniques for students

Managing time amidst all the other activities can be a task. Yeah, but it is not impossible. So, let me introduce you to some quick tips and tricks that work best especially during the time of their exams. During this time the children are more focused towards studying in depth and want to get good results for the exams.

Effective Time management tips for students who are in grade 1 to 10

These tips will be helpful as we know, we should keep in mind that students already have a lot of activities going on in their schools, in their institutions and many more.

First of all, the student should keep himself/herself away from any distractions – be it social media, video games or any other activities. Instead, they should be utilizing this time by watching educational content on the internet to gain more insights on their upcoming exam topics.

Children learn from what they see – Parents along with the children, should also contribute in excluding themselves from any distractions. This will not only create a healthy environment at home but also set an example in front of the child, and they will also see and learn from their parents to not get indulged with any electronic devices.

Along with the above-mentioned point they should also seek for help - Ask for guidance from their elders/parents/teachers, regarding any query related to their exams. Asking questions often is seen as a good way to clarify all the queries going on the student’s minds. They should also attend some doubt clearing sessions with their tuition teachers to revise and understand the topic better.

Moreover, the child and the parents should sit together and work towards creating a study plan for the upcoming exams –

If the child is in grade 1-5 - They should devote minimum 4 hours and maximum 6 hours per day on their studies. And should study at least 5 days per week depending on their schedule.

If the child is in grade 6-12 - They should set aside at least 6-8 hours of self-study, a month before the onset of their coming exams.

Furthermore, Practice makes a man perfect - It is very important to practice test papers before any exams. It not only helps them to recheck their knowledge but also helps them to check if they can finish the paper in a set time. This practice is a good way to feel confident before exam.

Eminently, the daily planner should include – study time, rest time and home work time so that the child doesn’t miss out on their daily assignments at school.

In addition, an important part of the planning process involves consistency. Be consistent with your study. If you are unable to finish the study on the set days, don’t panic go slow but be steady and soon your preparation will be done.

Revise and repeat – Before the onset of any exam, a child should set aside enough time for revision and repetition of the studied concept

No more procrastination – Children should utilise this time to the fullest and not waste any time in being unproductive.

Lastly, a vital point to keep in mind is maintain a healthy diet during exams, because a healthy body makes a healthy mind. You should include – fruits, vegetables, milk and protein in your diet to remain fit and healthy.

Along with the above point, you should also set aside 45 mins daily for your health and fitness. You should include exercising and walking in your daily activity.
